A short video clip shows a Delta Group hardware demonstration.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ScadaFest 2024: Motion control application greets users in Orlando\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FpkQJuOHwoA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Glenn Wadden, president, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vtscada.com\/what-is-vtscada\/\">VTScada by Trihedral<\/a>, a Delta Group company (Figure 2), provided perspective for today\u2019s software advances, recalling that his computer science studies began with Fortran punch cards with 80 characters, without backspace or undo features. Compare that to 3.7-million lines of code in today\u2019s VTScada software. It\u2019s not just about more. Hoske, Control Engineering<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Automation, a catalyst for a better world<\/h2>\n<p>Three years ago, Delta Group, a leader in power electronics with more than 85,000 employees, expanded its automation software by acquiring Trihedral, developer of VTScada software. People need to get their jobs done. Interest in the time savings that the software provides extends into job listings mention that VTScada as desired experience. Baker, emphasizing time-saving value, noted several famous related quotes (Figure 5):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>\u201cTime is the wisest counsellor of all.\u201d Pericles<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>\u201cThe common man is not concerned about the passage of time, but the man of talent is driven by it.\u201d Aurthur Schopenhauer<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>\u201cTime is money.\u201d Ben Franklin<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>\u201cWe must use time as a tool, not a crutch.\u201d John F. Kennedy<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>\u201cYour time is limited, so don\u2019t use it living someone else\u2019s life.\u201d Steve Jobs.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Benefits of advanced VTScada skills include avoiding unwarranted code and support, leveraging features to reduce errors, more security and reliability, Baker said. Hoske, Control Engineering<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Nearly 100 new features in VTScada since the last ScadaFest<\/h2>\n<p>Wadden said VTScada software has nearly 100 new features since the last ScadaFest, and users have the option to accept them incrementally over time, annually or longer intervals. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.controleng.com\/articles\/control-engineering-2023-scada-research-many-wait-too-long-to-upgrade\/\"><em>Control<\/em><em> Engineering<\/em> research, independent from Trihedral, shows many wait too long to upgrade SCADA software<\/a>, however.<\/p>\n<p>Wadden said general features (Figure 6) include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Security enhancements to harden the product and make it more resilient.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Security guidelines manual updates.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Numeric entry widget allows entry of historic data values on screen with a time stamp.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Control locks and control tokens operate like a padlock on equipment for subset of a tree in the system; one area can have control while another area is locked out to avoid conflicts.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Alarm shelving from right-click context menu takes an alarm out of service for period of service. This avoids false alarms during maintenance, for instance.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Improvements to alarm suppression avoid the risk of disabling them with re-enabling them. For example, when a pump is off, it avoids a low-flow alarm. It\u2019s automated now.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Recipe import is added.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Support for TLS 1.3, the secure encryption model\u2019s latest revision.<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>HDV text size adjustment. Want to see the screen at a glance from across the room? Simplicity is part of this update, with drag-and-drop config, practical for ad hoc reporting, with related features to be enhanced over time.
